Inside Track lecture & workshop 'Engineering the Airports of the Future'

Have you ever wondered how some of the world’s busiest airports are designed, built and maintained? What is involved in building a new airport? How do you keep an international airport operating whilst redeveloping the site? What is the future of aviation, and how is the industry embracing new technologies?

Many of us travel by air and are familiar with the process of catching a flight and landing at an unfamiliar airport. In this workshop Jacobs will share with you some of the ‘behind the scenes’ areas where engineers of all backgrounds are directly impacting your journey. This might be the complex high speed baggage system used to ensure you bag gets where it needs to go, new technologies being used to guide you through the terminal building, or designing new taxiways to ensure your aircraft takes the most efficient route to the runway.

Jacobs Aviation Team work on airport developments across the globe including Heathrow, Chicago O’Hare in the USA, and Melbourne in Australia. They would like to share their experiences with you, and invite you to learn how you could become involved. The presentation will include a short interactive session where you will look at the spaceport of the future!
